We know you’re used to seeing campervan content from us, but here’s something a little different to showcase exactly what SUGOI is all about.
Earlier this year, we were thrilled to launch TECH:TRUCK, the brand new mobile education and technology roadshow. In a UK first for further education joint ventures, we worked with seven Hampshire colleges to create this fantastic mobile events space.
What is it?
TECH:TRUCK is a bespoke, state-of-the-art events space designed to help educate and inspire students across the South of the country. Built with innovative features, such as solar panels, dynamic lighting and a drone roof hatch, TECH:TRUCK has since been also kitted out with AR and VR systems, marine and flight simulators, programmable robotic arms, 3D printers and more. Using industry-led, cutting-edge technologies to showcase a breadth and depth of forward-thinking engineering career opportunities within the digital, maritime and net zero technologies sectors.
How did we do it?
TECH:TRUCK was designed in partnership with seven colleges across Hampshire, to deliver something truly unique, that would be able to showcase all of the gadgets needed at events.
So, we worked with Fareham College to source a suitable vehicle, large enough to host groups of students at events.
Then, we began work! This included hooking up 300 meters of LED light strips, 230 meters of cable, as well as providing 46 plug sockets and seven TV screens. These are all powered by a diesel generator, 500W invertor, 240v external hook up, four lithium batteries and three solar panels. We also worked with local partners to get the vehicle painted, then wrapped with custom vinyls inside and out.
The finished product
Here’s just some of what you’ll find in the finished TECH:TRUCK:
- Remote connectivity and energy monitoring
- Smart battery chargers
- Gesture and app-controlled sound system
- External camera system
- 4G GSM router
- Smart, LED-maintained emergency exit lights
- 240v pop up tower
- Wireless charging pads
- Fiamma 45s awning
And, we’re absolutely thrilled with how this turned out. Here’s some images for you – what do you think?
The joint venture
The project, a partnership between SUGOI CAMPERS and Fareham College, also got us working with HSDC, Eastleigh College, City of Portsmouth College, City College Southampton, IOW College, Brockenhurst College, The Institute of Technology and The Solent Local Economic Partnership. All of these organisations will be able to use TECH:TRUCK throughout 2023 to increase awareness and exposure to the changing landscapes within the engineering technologies sectors.
We were thrilled to be approached by Fareham College to make their concept a reality. As a new, small business that’s family run, a project of this size was a huge feat for the SUGOI team. A huge thanks to everyone who worked tirelessly with us on this project, and have created a space for truly unique learning experiences.
